MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
MAKES AN EDUCATED CHOICE
Manchester Metropolitan University is regarded as one of the top 10 most popular UK universities, offering almost 1,000 courses from its seven campuses across Manchester and Cheshire. The university caters for 32,000 students and employs 4,300 members of staff.
The university, which incorporates the second largest business school in the country, is helping its staff to save money on their childcare costs. The benefit is in line with the organisation’s forward-thinking operations.
MMU is offering parents Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers, which are exchanged for part of an employee’s salary to pay for all types of registered childcare, including nurseries, nannies, pre and after school clubs and holiday schemes. Exempt from tax and National Insurance Contributions, vouchers deliver substantial savings for both parents and their employers.
MMU introduced Busy Bees’ scheme in December 2005 and now has a positive number of parents from across its seven campuses regularly requesting vouchers.
“We wanted to introduce Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers as a benefit for parents who wanted to return to work after having their children but were worried about the cost of childcare,” explains Audrey Rodgers, Personnel Manager at MMU. “Staff really appreciate having the Busy Bees scheme in place as it reduces their childcare costs.”
