Working parents at Southampton University saved nearly £260,000 on the cost of their childcare since last January, thanks to Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers!

Southampton University launched the Busy Bees Childcare Voucher scheme in January 2006 to help its staff with children save up to £1,196 a year on the cost of their childcare (subject to individual circumstances).

A good number of the University’s staff have joined the family-friendly scheme and are spending their Childcare Vouchers, which are exempt from tax and National Insurance Contributions, on a range of registered and approved childcare. This includes nurseries, nannies, childminders, au pairs, out of school clubs and holiday schemes.

Parents can request up to £243 worth of Vouchers per month by exchanging part of their salary for Vouchers. As both parents can register to receive Vouchers, the potential saving is doubled to £2, 392.

She said: “Using Childcare Vouchers makes life so much easier. I simply receive the Voucher instead of a proportion of my salary and then use it to pay my childminder. It couldn’t really be simpler.
