PARENT TESTIMONIAL
DEREK CARR, NHS BLOOD AND TRANSPLANT

Staff at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)  have been saving thousands of pounds on the cost of their childcare, thanks to Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers.

The organisation, which is responsible for providing a reliable, efficient supply of blood, organs and associated services to the NHS, launched the Busy Bees scheme in April 2003, when it was known as National Blood Authority and became part of NHSBT in April 2006.

Derek Carr, Donor Relations Co-ordinator at NHSBT has been exchanging part of his salary for Childcare Vouchers for more than a year and hasn’t looked back.

“I’ve found the initiative excellent,” he said. “I save money by requesting them to pay for childcare, as the value for these Vouchers come out of my salary before deductions. It was easy for my child’s carer to register with Busy Bees and their payment is consistent, automatically going into their bank account each month”.

“When I had to call the Busy Bees advice line to change my carer’s details, my query was dealt with in a quick and professional manner.”

Derek concluded: “I’d fully recommend the system to anyone who has a child in childcare. I estimate that I’ve saved £500 on childcare costs this year alone!”

NHSBT introduced a Childcare Voucher scheme to demonstrate its commitment to providing family-friendly initiatives and encourage new parents to return to work after maternity leave. It has a good number of its working parents now requesting to exchange part of their salary for Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers.
