On 23rd April Busy Bees Childcare Vouchers held an event at Ibrox, the home of Glasgow Rangers FC. The theme of the event was ‘Balancing working with caring: the public sector perspective’. The event was chaired by Stephen Burke, Chief Executive, Counsel and Care. Guest speakers included Louise Harrington, Assistant Director (HR), Hertfordshire County Council, “Managing change: cutting costs, not corners in public sector HR management” and Pam Walton, Consultant, Working Families, “The employee’s perspective: what works?”. This successful event ended with a behind the scenes tour of the venue.

New Partners

We’ve been living up to our Busy Bees name, as our business has continued to grow in Scotland in the last few months. Organisations that have implemented the Busy Bees Childcare Voucher scheme include the following:

In Good Company

“I have a three year old in nursery and anyone with children knows that good childcare is not cheap, so I think the Childcare Voucher scheme is excellent.

“It’s great that my employer, Scottish Water, has this arrangement with Busy Bees, as the value of the Childcare Vouchers come off my pay before tax and NI, so while I have been using them for the past 18 months, I have saved a lot of money.”
Stuart Black, parent at Scottish Water

“Childcare Vouchers are a good staff benefit for working parents who want to remain in employment and save on the cost of their childcare.

“From an organisational point of view, they will help us to retain staff, improve morale and attract good candidates when we’re recruiting. Furthermore, the scheme will enable us to save money on National Insurance Contributions for each parent that joins Busy Bees.”
Andy Carter, Associate Director of HR, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Childcare Vouchers Refresher
  • For the average UK employer staff turnover is around 40% each year. This means that there is an ongoing need to repromote Childcare Vouchers on a regular basis to maximise both parent and employer savings.

Busy Bees has the resource and material available to proactively offer this service.

  • Childcare Vouchers…

    …benefit both basic (20%) and higher (40%) rate tax-payers

…can be claimed by all eligible working parents

…aren’t just for pre-school children – they can be used for out-of-school clubs and holiday schemes for all children under 16 years of age

…offer a further 5 per cent discount on the voucher value in any Busy Bees or Leapfrog nursery.
